Dr. Magdalena Krondl

Dr. Magdalena Krondl was born in eastern Czechoslovakia. She spent time in England during the Second World War, where she learned English. After completing her PhD in Czechoslovakia, Dr. Krondl worked as a nutritionist in a government ministry. She was dismissed when her family’s ‘capitalist’ background was uncovered. After the Soviet-led invasion in 1968, her family fled to Vienna, where they received visas at the Canadian embassy. Dr. Krondl held a teaching and research position at the University of Toronto until retirement. She has written an autobiographical book titled Faith and Hope.
